Celebrating Earth day with General Mills

A Fantastic Day volunteering at Iver Environmental Project with the General Mills team.

General Mills asked its Uxbridge based staff if any of them wanted to spend the day gardening and on general maintenance, allowing the study centre to get up and running for the next few months. It was a really great turn up with perhaps 80 General Mills staff helping with this project.
This has had a huge impact on the readiness of the study centre for the next few months.
Adrian and his team did a wonderful job in the preparation for today’s event. We cooked on a mixture of clay and brick ovens and a bbq. Tandoori chicken, Piri Piri chicken, delicious sausage and onion wraps, stone baked pizza and lovely salads. Wonderful food staged with a well thought through Earth day theme running through. Nice touches like serving utensils (trowel and small gardening fork). Rustic lined planters for salad, watering cans for dressings. STUNNING.
All served with a huge smile to hungry workers on the hottest day of the year. We hit 29 degrees at lunch time.
Senior Managers from General Mills all were incredibly appreciative of the efforts we put in to support this worthy cause especially when we provided them with ice creams mid afternoon.
